Recumbent Gas (RG) Batteries

Those who follow Bob Nuckolls of the AeroElectric Connection ((316) 685-8617 or www.aeroelectric.com) know he strongly recommends using RG batteries in aircraft due to their sealed cases, low internal resistance and high output capacity. There are several aircraft parts distributors who sell RG batteries but at aircraft prices. Radio Shack also sells 12 volt RG batteries for use in uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), lawnmowers, golf caddies, wheelchairs and telecommunications.

Don’t expect to walk into your local Radio Shack and pick up one of these batteries. You need to call 1 -800-THE-SHACK or order online at www.radioshack.com. The shipping for the two smaller batteries is only $7.00 and $10.00 on the large one. You do not pay a Hazardous Material shipping charge but you do pay sales tax. You will find a savings of over $25.00 when compared to other suppliers!

Blade-Type Fuse Holders

Bob Nuckolls of the AeroElectric Connection ((316) 685-8617 or www.aeroelectric.com ) suggests the use of blade-type fuses as an alternative to circuit breakers primarily because of their ease of installation. A source for these fuse holders in sizes from 6 to 18 circuits is J.C. Whitney. The part numbers and prices are as follows:

You can call J.C. Whitney at 1-800-867-4227 or check them out online at www.jcwhitney.com for more details.
