Hour 19 - Remove Control Stick

{flv}construction/hour019{/flv}

In this episode, I decided to begin working on the canopy frame.  Hold on. . . not so fast. One of my other objectives is to document all of the parts supplied by QAC in the original kits for the Q-200, and one of them happens to be the control stick.

I knew that if I was going to start on the canopy work, that I might not see the control stick for quite a while, and I’d like to get the pieces out so that I could have some drawings made.  So to make a long story short, I decided to remove the control stick before I covered the cockpit.

As you can see, I wasn’t very dainty about it either.  When all is said and done, I’ll need to remove the main fuel tank from under the seat, which will eventually mean that I will need to remove the entire center console as well.  Hence, there’s no reason to be subtle with a piece that will need to be completely rebuilt anyway.

At any rate, I managed to get the reflexor, and control stick out with very little trouble.  I was also able to reach in and remove the rat’s nest of leaves and dirt that had accumulated in the center console.
In the next episode, I’ll cover the cockpit area in preparation for pouring the two part foam.  Stay tuned!
