QuickTalk 7 - ODDS and ENDS

QBA has recently modified its mailing label system to provide for continued growth. Although we feel this will be a big help in getting the newsletter out on time, it will take us awhile to have it fully operational. (Retyping 650 names and addresses ain't easy!) We ask that you again check your current mailing label for the correct address, serial number, phone number and expiration date. If any of these items are missing or incorrect, please let us know.

Bubba Hamiter (#2176) has informed us that for those wishing to build a scratch Q2, he has complete drawing for all the metal parts and female molds for the fuselage. For more details, send Bubba a SASE at the following address: P.O. Box 353, Robertsdale, AL 36567.

We have been told that AVIATION CONSUMER plans to do a story on the Q2 in the near future and would like input from builders. You may direct comments to David Nolan (Senior Editor) at 1111 East Putnam Ave., Riverside, CT 06898.

The newest QBA membership roster should be available for distribution around late February. We encourage everyone to take advantage of this in order to meet other builders. Just send us a legal size SASE if you wish only 1 or 2 states. If you want the complete list, send $1 to cover handling.

As of the first of the year, about half the QBA dorm rooms reserved for Oshkosh have been filled. It's probably a little hard to think about your August schedule when there's snow on the ground, but now is the time to make plans. If tradition holds, the dorms usually fill up around March. Those that made prior dorm arrangements may get refunds from the university, if requested by July 15.

Speaking of Oshkosh, the EAA staff is giving us a time slot for our Second Annual Forum. Our request for better weather (or a stronger tent) was met with understanding.

Neal Current (#399) is trying to locate defective Quickie alternator stators and voltage regulators for experimentation. If you have such a problem, write him at 6270 Westmorland Pl., Goleta, CA 93117.

We received some nice press copies of Arnold Forest's Q2 in Alberta, Canada and Sion Silyn-Roberts' Quickie in Auckland, New Zealand. Although most of our info comes from U.S. sources, you've got to give these foreign members a lot of credit. In many cases, they may be the only composite builders within hundreds of miles. Keep up the good work, guys!

A couple of reports reached us of members having their QUICKTALK issues "gutted" by the post office. It seems the address sheet gets torn off the newsletter and is the only thing delivered. If you should happen to miss an issue, we will be glad to replace it.

The NOV/DEC issue of QUICKTALK was inadvertently labeled as Issue #5 on some copies. Please note that it should have said Issue #6. (Sorry about that!)

You can order a PDF or printed copy of QuickTalk #7 by using the Q-talk Back Issue Order Page.
