Welcome to the new home of the Quickie Builders Association! I set up this website in 2005 to help people who are either building or flying a Quickie homebuilt Aircraft or contemplating doing so. I have been a Quickie enthusiast since I was a little kid, and I want everyone who visits to learn more about these amazing airplanes.
On January 1st, 2010 I took over as editor for the Quickie Builders Association and will continue working hard to help builders collaborate and exchange ideas. All of the information that was on the old site has been brought over to the new site here. You can see all of that by visiting the “QBA” tab at the top of the page.
If you have EVER been a member of the Quickie Builders Association, or if you’re simply interested in building or learning more about these terrific homebuilt airplanes, I encourage you to become a member of the Quickie Builders Association and keep this group going (and growing) well into the future!
I have many exciting things planned for this year, and strong membership numbers will help ensure that many of these plans can bear fruit. When you become a member, you will instantly unlock areas of this site that are available and visible to MEMBERS ONLY.
In addition, we are currently working to put the last 30 years of QBA newsletters online, archiving the wealth of information and experience gathered by builders and flyers over that time period. This means that your $20 membership will eventually grant you access to over $500 worth of back issues. This new feature will go a long way in answering your questions and hopefully end some of the mystery surrounding these super efficient designs!
I appreciate your support, and look forward to working with you well into the next decade! Please join today!
Warm regards,
Dan Yager

This website contains enough free information to keep you busy for a very long time. (And I am constantly adding more.) However, don't get overwhelmed, you can always and return later.
If you've made it here, there is much more to see. So please feel free to have a look around, you can navigate through the site by using the menu above. The five most recent articles appear in a list at the bottom of every page.

Thanks Robert. This kind of encouragement motivates me! :-)
Wow you have gone a long way on this site. Very professional!
Because the Qs were kits there is not much info for those of us that have to manufacture parts. Do you have any drawings or specs above those in the plans?
Dan,
I've spent the last couple of hours or so carousing your website, and will spend several more I'm sure. All I can say is WOW, you are doing a fantastic job compiling and sharing all this information. It is motivating like Robert said, and I hope to be able to contribute in some way in the future.

Thanks Matt, I really hope this gets everyone going and I really appreciate the feedback.
Cheers,

The parts drawings are on a rather long list of things to produce and upload to this site. (So much to do. . . So little time.)
I would love to provide drawings of these to the entire community, and I will eventually get to them.
In the meantime, if you know someone who can produce them, I'm all ears! LOL!
Thanks for the positive feedback!
Cheers,

At last someone has a Quickie Site where I can get first class information when I need it.
I had a little problem downloading one part of the plans after I purchased them. I emailed Dan and within minutes he sent the part that I was having problems getting to me. Dan does what he says he will do and the quality is very good. I am very satisfied.
Thanks for the sight. Would you happen to know if there is an overlap of glass when glassing the wing at 45 degress. How much overlap would that be. I'm building a Q1.
No overlap is required on the main wing layups. You can butt the pieces of glass right up next to each other. Please see the following page of the plans (Chapter 9 page 8):
http://www.quickheads.com/q1-plans-chapter-9-page-9-8.html
Remember that you will be overlapping the whole wing with another layer going the other direction. Hope this helps. Please let me know.
Cheers,
