Yahoo! Group Etiquette

1. Include a signature tag on all messages. Include your name, location, aircraft type, aircraft hours flown, and e-mail address. This is particularly important for responding directly back to people instead of to the list since Yahoo strips the "sent from" email address from messages.
   
2. State concisely and clearly the specific topic of the comments in the subject line. This allows members to respond more appropriately to your posting and makes it easier for members to search the archives by subject.
   
3. Include only the relevant portions of the original message in your reply, delete any header information, and put your response before the original posting.
   
4. Only send a message to the entire list when it contains information that everyone can benefit from. Send messages such as "thanks for the information" or "me, too" to individuals--not to the entire list. Do this by using your e-mail application's forwarding option and typing in or cutting and pasting in the e-mail address of the individual to whom you want to respond.
   
5. Do not send administrative messages, such as remove me from the list, through the listserver. Instead, use the Web interface (http://groups.yahoo.com) to change your settings or to remove yourself from a list. If you are changing e-mail addresses, you do not need to remove yourself from the list and rejoin under your new e-mail address. Simply change your settings.
   
6. Warn other list subscribers of lengthy messages either in the subject line or at the beginning of the message body with a line that says "Long Message."
   
7. Do not send binary files (pictures, video, drawings, etc...) to the list (they will automatically be stripped off the message). Instead, upload the file to the Files section of the Q-List (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Q-LIST/files/) and then send a message to the list alerting everyone to the fact that the file now exists.
   
8. Do not send HTML formatted messages to the list. HTML messages are capable of carrying embedded viruses. Messages should be formatted as plain text.
   
9. Do not attack or threaten others on the list. "Spirited" dialogue can and should be expected from time to time but must be done with respect and concern for another's well-being.
