Thanks guys, I did a bunch of measurements and calculations and this is
what I come up with. With tail up, firewall vertical, empty no gas full
of oil, 42.53' from datum line. full of gas and me in it, tail up,
45.70'. The left wing is 2 lbs heavy, I had weighted it a little too
much, I'll take a little off. How do these numbers look?

Marvin,

Give us some numbers:

How much does your Q1 weigh empty?
Fuel capacity/gallons?
Your weight?

On page 4-2 of the POH / owners manual:

empty CG 43.40' with 245# aircraft,
loaded CG 48.22' with 452# total including 170# pilot and 4 gallons
of fuel.

Hi, my datum I'm using is 14.5' from firewall. the engine I'm using is
fuel injected 2005 gsxr 600 suzuki crotch rocket engine. It's supposed
to be 120 hp off the crank. My quickie was built too heavy. the guy
that built it said the extra material went into the canard and wings.
with the onan it weighed 375lbs empty. with a 180lb man it didn't have
enough power. putting in this new engine I ended up front heavy and
right wing was 15 lbs heavier than left, I weighted the left wing and I
added 24lb ballast. This plane is now 496 lbs. I'm running a D54-P52
wood prop. Marvin

It all depends where your datum is. For these figures to mean
anything, they need to be related to the original datum from which the
C of G range of travel was measured.
