Hello, i am rebuilding a q1 that was originaly a flying airplane, the
pryor owner landed hard and broke the canard about 3 inches off the
side of the plane, on each side, he then cut the canard off the plane,
so now i have a 3 piece canard, needing some input, can this be
repaired using the same method of sanding or grinding back plies of
glass? its a gu canard, i have started by cutting a new center section
and jigging the wing, is this a safe fix, there is no delamination on
either side of the wing, they are in good shape, any help would greatly
be appreciated, anyone ever fixed a canard? thanks

Phil,
A couple of pic's may be a help here. It may be easier ultimatly to
make a whole new canard (sometimes the only way out is through).
Templates are still available, I believe. Maybe you can remove the
top of the cannard and start over with that, it would be difficult
to patch that back together. Good luck, though. If all you need to
do is the cannard and the rest of the plane is ok, It's really not to
bad to redo the cannard.
