Actually, everyone tole me the 22hp heads just burned up your engine. They
were just shaved 18 or 20 hp heads whic made the compression ratio to high. I
know two people who
run the 20 hp heads .... one with 600 and some hours on it and a 1995 Osh
reserve Grand Champion. has somewhere between 200 and 400 hours. Both 20 hp
heads. I can get you the part number for the 20 HP head if you really want
them.

The ultra vair book is appx 50 bucks and well worth it. the secret is moving
the thrust washer to the front main cap (some machine work) and making a
simple oil pump housing
to fit on the bach of the engine powered by a shaft(machined part) off the
back of the cam.

My Mosler (the one Tom Solan flew for 200 hrs) weighs over 90 pounds mount
and all. But the mount containes a sheet of 1/8' AL theight weighs 8 lbs by its
self.

Corvair core engines (that really rotate and have the correct crank) can be
had for 100 bucks. I would use a single Zenith up draft carb like the Mosler /
1/2VW do.

OK, I will get off the stump and quit preaching now.

You were to run it
for some hours then for $300.00 you could trade in your 18 hp heads
for new heads that raised hp to 22. I was one of those who bought one
of the Onan engines 18 hp, sent in my $ 300.00 but never received my
22 hp heads.

All,
I would like to know the measurement from the ground to the
centerline of the prop of a typical Q1. I would like to compare this
to mine. The plans don't seem to show that anywhere. A measurement
from the trailing edge of the outboard canard would be nice also,
right on the edge of the wheel pant.
Thanks,

According to my CAD drawings, assuming no flex on the canard and the large
wheels, the stock prop center line is about 30 inches above ground level
with the aircraft in flight level attitude (WL-00 parallel to ground) In 3
point attitude the measurement is around 37.5 inches.

Hope this helps a bit.
