All,
Yesterday I received my Mounting hardware and (Mock) engine. I had
to put it on to see if all my mechanical prophesies came true....
and they did. The engine was lent to me by the manufacturer,
Hexatron Engineering (thanks), in order for me to do my cowling.
This prompted me to take a few pictures of my progress, it's been
about a year. Any comments would be welcome on any subject or issue
you may see in any of the pictures. Any cowling fabrication
suggestions would be appreciated. Note the prop is not the intended
prop, just something I stuck on there so I could drool.

Dave,

Mount the engine as high on the firewall as you can.
You will be able to use a longer prop.

Look at some of the engine cowls in the 'Photos' section .

Ryan,
Right now the prop is where the Q1 prop would be on the
Onan. I was paranoid to move it, as I'm not an aero guy, I have access
to them though at work. I can at best move the engine up about 1.5
inches. Do you think It's worth it? I just took off the engine and mount
and fooled with it a bit. I could get 2' if I cut out the stiffener I
added on the other side of the firewall. What prop clearance from the
ground would you recommend? For props I'm looking at the Powerfin. In my
case I thought I would add blades to make up for stubbieness. I think if
I moved it up it would look better. Let me know what you think.. I
would appreciate it. Do you think if I moved it up 1.5' that it would
not effect flying performance? Thanks in advance
I appreciate your comments as I know your bird is flying!
