Don's Try to Wear the Wheel Pants!
Don's Try to Wear the Wheel Pants!
I was poking around the internet, and decided to look at the “For Sale” items on the quickie builder’s site, I came across an ad by Marion Brown listing pre-molded wheel pants and rudder pedals.   I e-mailed Marion (or “Brownie” as he preferred to be called) and had soon entered into negotiations to purchase both the Q-200 wheel pants and the pedals.

Marion paid $230 for the wheel pants and had started work on them.  I’m not sure how much the pedals are worth, but most of the metal parts are getting pretty hard to come by.  (So of course I assume they’re priceless!) At any rate, Brownie sold me the wheel pants for $25 each, and the rudder pedals for $10.  Even with shipping at $46 (he even sent me the receipts) I thought the total of $106 was a pretty good deal.

It was actually kinda’ funny, I had the money in my account, and was thinking about when I would head over to the bank to get a money order, and go to the post office to mail it, but before I could do any of that, Brownie sent me an e-mail telling me that he had already sent the packages.  He mailed them before I even paid for them!  I think that’s kind of unheard of in this day and age, and I think it deserves praise.

I also think that it was a great marketing ploy on his part, even though I don’t think he did it for that reason, since when he shipped everything, it really lit a fire under my ass to get the money in the mail.  On second thought, sending products before payment probably wouldn’t work out to well for most customers, but it sure worked on me!

Thanks Brownie!  I appreciate the smooth transaction, and the extra pieces to the puzzle I hope to someday call an airplane! Wink

These are the pictures that Brownie sent me before the sale:
