QUICKIE BUILDERS ASSOCIATION

INTRODUCTION
by Robert Herd
I haven't particularly looked forward to writing this editorial. Good-byes are hardly my favorite subject, especially with so much still to be accomplished.
Oh sure, I've moaned and groaned on occasion about all the time I WASN'T building on my Quickie because of the hours spent with the word processor. Don't kid yourself - I've enjoyed every minute and would not trade the experience for anything. However, when my lifelong dream of building a country home with a private airstrip recently became possible, there was never a question of priorities. I hope the pilots in the crowd can appreciate my attitude and will forgive me for handing over my QBA editorship. At best, I have just a few weeks before the house lot is ready and it's time to trade my stippling brush for a carpenter's hammer.
Unfortunately, this forces Jim Masal to assume the roles of both editor AND publisher (not exactly an enviable position). Expect a few format changes in QUICKTALK designed to help relieve some of the paperwork burdens. It will be far from easy and cooperation from the membership will be relearning his touch-typing without having to author the material also.) Since QBA has made a career of changing its address, there will probably be no surprise that it's happened again.
This is hardly a "ridin'-off-into-the-sunet" column, I'll be looking forward to seeing everyone at Oshkosh this year as well as other fly-ins around the country. Maybe there will finally be time to write down a few of my own favorite builder hints. (Yes, you guys haven't sent them ALL in!) And, of course, you're all welcome to fly in for a visit when the runway is finished. (It's going to be hard-surfaced, so don't worry.) Who knows? It might be just the place for a future QBA fly-in.
Let me thank everyone for all the letters of encouragement over the past two years and wish you the best of luck with your projects.
Keep in touch.
