QuickTalk 13 - ODDS and ENDS

We would like to call your attention to three new Quickies dealerships which have recently been established. Southern California builders may now contact Nelson Petrey of Carlsbad, California. He is currently constructing a Q-200. Nelson may be contacted at his business phone (619) 438-9097. Those individuals in Colorado and surrounding states should look up Gary Jones of North Salt Lake, Utah. Gary is a professional pilot with templates and epoxy pumps for temporary loan to his customers. His evening phone number is (801) 295-9681. Finally, builders in north Texas will be interested in meeting Mark Brazil of Proformance Aviation, 4761 Frank Luke St., Suite 209, Dallas, TX 75248. (214) 248-2655.

Remember around this time last year when we reminded you to get your Oshkosh dorm reservations in early? Well, a lot of you didn't do it (and you were really sorry later). NOW is the time to contact the folks at the University of Wisconsin if you want a dorm room for Oshkosh '84. QBA will NOT be reserving a block of rooms this year; so don't forget to send in a deposit on your own. Even if you think you MIGHT be going, it is best to make a reservation. There is always someone to take it off your hands if you need to back out later. Contact: 1984 EAA, Gruenhagen Conference Center, Univ. of Wisc.-Oshkosh, Oshkosh, WI 54901. (414) 424-1107.

You may remember the informative articles written by Neal Current and Richard Chandos in QUICKTALK #2 and #3 concerning the Quickie electrical system. Well, Neal has put together what he believes is an improved electrical system for the Quickie consisting of a rewound high voltage stator, new voltage regulator, a battery eliminator configuration for starting and running as well as a back-up battery. Neal is looking for a volunteer from the flying ranks to test his new hardware. Those interested may contact him at 6270 Westmorland Pl., Goleta, CA 93117. (805) 967-0767.

Pennsylvania dealer Bob McFarland has offered to demonstrate his Q2 to any builder ready for their first flight, whether or not they bought their kits from him. Bob mentions that he is in complete agreement with the comments by the Olson brothers (Issue #12-Pilot Profile), especially obtaining flight time in a completed project. Bob can be contacted at 333 S. Front Street, Wormleysburg, PA 17043. (717) 763-7654.

We recently found out that at least one Quickie has found its way to the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. Mac Cunningham of Dover, Massachusetts donated N169H to the famous Air and Space Museum. The plane currently resides at the Institute's Garber Facility in Silver Hill, MD.

Arnold Frost (#2037) sent us a report concerning the problems he had experienced with the Posa carb on his Revmaster developing insufficient static RPM. He was advised to try the #5A Mod for the Posa needle and found it successful in eliminating his problem. For others interested in the testing procedure, contact Revmaster Aviation and ask for a copy of their circular entitled "Mixture Control Check with E.G.T. Gauge". Their address is 7000 Merrill Ave., Chino Airport #8, Chino, CA 91710. (714) 597-7781. Arnold reports that he spoke with David Moss at Revmaster who was very helpful.

Steve Whiteside of Mayfield Heights, Ohio forwarded a copy of his QUICKTALK index for Q2 hints. We plan to combine Steve's work with a comparable index of Quickie hints for possible publication later this year. It may take a while, so please be patient.

As was mentioned in Issue #12, QBA is putting together a roster of completed projects across the country. If you have a finished plane and have not filled out one of our postage-paid cards, please contact us. To date, we have put together a sizeable number of responses and the results may have a surprise or two! Look for our report in the MAR/APR issue of QUICKTALK.

RENEWAL REMINDER: Those members whose issues expire with this issue should remit $6.60 ($8.30 Canada, $10.00 overseas) for membership renewal. This will see your QUICKTALK subscription through December 1984. You may submit your 1985 dues of $8 ($10 Canada, $12 overseas) at the same time if you wish. Thank you for helping us convert to our new schedule outlined in Issue #12.
