In this video, I'm starting to rip out the main tank in so that I can completely rebuild it. If you've been following along you've heard me gripe about this tank leaking into the surrounding foam.
The first thing I did here was remove the airhart brake cylinders from the pilot side arm rest. Then I used the holes I cut in the top of the tank as a way to start the work of jigsawing the rest of the foam and glass sandwich out of the fuselage.
This is kind of a pain to have to redo this! But the fuel system is kinda' important in the grand scheme of things! So I want to make sure that it's redone correctly. (It certainly wasn't done right the first time! Yikes!
As always I invite your feedback below, or in the forums!
What kind of epoxy are you using? Also with todays fuels, do you know if it will have an affect on todays epoxy? I have heard the ethanol in todays fuel may or will have and effect on it. Would you also know if there is a special coating or something to protect our tanks? Just a reminder I'm building a Q1.
