Kevin Benziger is the guy who sent me the Q1 templates in exchange for the ad here on www.quickheads.com but as it turns out he placed the Q1's on eBay late last night. When I spoke to Kevin on the phone, he mentioned that the previously flying Q (the one pictured in white below) had been backed over by a truck. As part of the insurance settlement, the insurance company had the previous owner cut the wings and canard off the airframe. However, as the pictures clearly show, the fuselge still seems to be in pretty good shape, and the control system parts are intact. In addition to the previously flying Q1, he is selling a partially completed one as well. It looks like he has a completed canard and main wing in the loft, as well as two Kawasaki engines that go with the projects. If you're interested, you can can check out the eBay ad by clicking here . In addition you can also contact Kevin directly to ask any questions you might have. Please remember that Kevin is selling these for the estate of the previous owner. He is not the original owner, but he's a really nice guy to talk to and would be willing to work with anyone who has a serious interest in purchasing the pair. (No tire kickers please!) Of course, if you speak to Kevin directly, please let him know that you saw this ad here on quickheads.com. Good luck and happy bidding on the auction! The auction starts at $1500 with a BUY IT NOW price of $3000. Which means that some one could get a pretty good deal.
This is the description that Kevin placed with the eBay listing: Two Quickies SOLD together | Vehicle Description | | | I am selling two Q-1's for a family that lost their loved one. I will describe to the best of my ability what I am selling. There are to many small parts to list everything. 1st quickie was a flying airplane until a delivery truck backed over it. Someone chopped the wings and canards off at the fuselage. There is an engine looks like a Kawasaki with belt driven re-drive. 2nd Quickie has never flown and appears to have all the major components. Fuse, Canopy(cracked), Canard, Wings & cowl. This one has a Kawasaki 440 engine with a gear re-drive(I have the paperwork on this engine). The engine is mounted but the wings and canard are not. EASY TO SHIP There are a total of 3 wing and 3 canards. One set is the original chopped off plane #1, one set looks like a replacement set and one for plane #2. There are no props or instruments . Keep in mind that these projects are being sold together to make one plane with spare parts. They have been stored indoors in a dry climate and not exposed to the elements. If you see it in one of the pictures it is included. Buyer is responsible for SHIPPING. I am not looking to get invovled in the shipping process but, if asked nicely by the winner, I will help for a price. Believe me,I will not be cheap. (I hate moving these type of projects, I once trucked a Q-2 form New Mexico to California.) The Project are at the EAA Chapter Hangar in Oakdale California (O27). This is about all I know, if you have questions, ask and I will try to answer. I will tell you non quickie people beware. These are not for the novice pilot! IF YOU HAVE AN EBAY RATING UNDER 10 DO NOT BID WITHOUT TALKING TO ME 1ST!!!! Must pick up within 7 days of close of auction. NO I WILL NOT SHIP OUTSIDE THE USA. If you are canadian, you come and get it, I will not ship it to you! I know some of this sound negative, I sell a lot of airplanes and kits and get bombarded with tire kickers. I am very easy to work with you will enjoy a seamless transaction so bid with confidence. |
