Hour 10 - Drain the Main. . .Tank Print
Written by Dan Yager

My hopes of making a million dollars by selling the 100LL fuel that remained in my main tank was dashed when I opened the fuel drain and discovered that the tank was actually filled with water.  I took several fuel samples just to be sure.  Hmm. . . I wonder how that got in there?  I also would like to know why that got in there? Wink

So this hour is about as exciting as watching grass grow, but again just be thankful that I didn't play it back in real time.  The good news is that I drain over 8 gallons of fluid from the main tank.  Which made the airframe about 64 lbs lighter!  It's much easier to move around the garage now so I'm grateful that I got that out of there.

It's also a good thing to note that it takes just over an hour to drain the main fule tank by using the fuel sample valve.  However, if this happened in flight, you should probably transfer as much fuel as possible to the header tank, and land quickly! Laughing
